Have you ever wondered why there was absolutely no "The Rock Gazette" in any Google search? I know there was a Black Rock Gazette, but that's another matter. Well, for some time I wondered the samea thing, so I decided to impregnate myself with the courage to start my very own Rock Gazette and I aptly titled it The Rock Gazette.
If you go to Merriam-Webster Online, you will find that the fourth definition for the word rock is, in slang terms, "to be extremely enjoyable, pleasing, or effective". In other words, it's an adjective that describes what we would consider something of our liking. You rock, man! That's a rocking look you got on you tonight! So, even if you think that some of the writings here don't have that much of a rock in them, if they are something which would fall under the category of "that which you should know and think about" then it's a safe bet that it's rocking.
This little piece of internet real estate will have a pretty straightforward niche (at least, as far as I can stretch the definition of straighforward). I will write and write and write about what? That's right. ROCK. Mostly...
I say mostly because, under a category which you will realize is for that purpose, I will also write about some other things that are not directly connected to rock... but at the same time, I guess you can always find some linkeage (see second paragraph).
But The Rock Gazette will have a bunch of reviews, articles on the topic, here and there a noteworthy news piece - at least as far as I'm concerned, so don't rip me a new one if you don't see your favorite bit of rock news being commented on by me. About the reviews, they'll be about albums which I consider some of the best in rock. No, you probably won't find any reviews about albums of the so-called "grunge" movement of the early- to mid-nineties, mostly because I don't consider them as great and as relevant as some albums which came out in the 70s and 80s (excluding maybe the second Nirvana and the first Pearl Jam albums). I'll also look into music dvd's, music videos, movies that rock (á la VH1 but better).
So, that's that! The Rock Gazette is very proud to have you as a reader. So remember: Get Your Rock at The Rock Gazette!
Next up: A short, scrumptious review of an album that every single person in the world should have!
